Concordia at Rebecca Residence

I was recently at Concordia at Rebecca Residence for some short term rehab and care after a long hospital stay. Being that I worked in a long term facility/rehab center for 14 years, I understand what a wonderful team you need to succeed in caring for a multitude of people with a multitude of differences. I had incredible care from the CNAs - all kind and pleasant and helpful. Sometimes I had to wait a little while for my light to be answered, but I understood how busy it could get. They have one of the hardest jobs ever, and they all handled it well. The nurses were great also. I enjoyed my daily visits from housekeeping - again all pleasant and wonderful workers. My therapists did a fantastic job creating sessions to work on the areas I needed, but were also open to my opinions as well. They were creative in some specific areas. Like the other staff, they were all kind and encouraging. I also enjoyed working some of the therapy students who were doing their internships at the facility. The Activities staff were also wonderful. With COVID restrictions, I thought they did a great job. I also appreciated the system that was set up for family visits and item drop offs. I also enjoyed most of the food, and the dietary went above and beyond to cater to the specifics of extra protein and vegetables that were recommended for my healing. I would definitely return if I it was needed and highly recommend this facility.

My mother was admitted to Rebecca Residence's Skilled Nursing program in the fall of 2017, following a bad fall at home and a period of decline in her physical and mental health. Upon entering she was malnourished and underweight, and shortly after was diagnosed with Alzheimer's by UPMC Geriatric doctors. My family decided to move her permanently to Rebecca Residence's Personal Care program.

Within a few weeks, she had not only rebounded physically, but was thriving. Her weight had shot up to a very healthy level, and her blood tests revealed an astounding increase in nutrients. Her general mood and thirst for life had become elevated to the point I hadn't seen in years.

Today, despite the advancement of Alzheimer's disease, my mother is in top physical health for a woman of 78 years. She walks around the facility getting tons of exercise, chats with other residents regularly, enjoys reading in the courtyard, and has made genuine friends with the staff members.

As for the staff, I literally cannot express my gratitude, appreciation, and sheer admiration. From Grounds Maintenance (anyone would be jealous of the beautiful pond), Housekeeping, and Skilled Nursing, to the wonderful women at the front desk, Personal Care nurses, the Accounting department, and Administration, it DOES NOT GET MORE PROFESSIONAL.

A genuinely caring staff, nutritious food service, clean and generous living accommodations, and spacious outdoor grounds have literally saved my mom's life.

As I am extremely grateful for every member of the Rebecca Residence team, I would be remiss if I didn't extend my very special gratitude to Melanie Stewart and Adam Toncini, who together have helped my mother immeasurably. Our family is deeply deeply thankful and truly blessed to have you in our lives.

My father was admitted to Concordia Rebecca Residence two months ago and was recently moved to their personal care facility because he was showing improvement. Due to the pandemic, I haven’t been able to visit him but I feel good about his care because personnel at the facility have been very helpful in letting me know how he is doing.

I have also been impressed with the prompt responses to my calls and with how helpful care personnel have been in advising me of my father’s status and progress.

I highly recommend this facility.

My mom has been at Rebecca Residence for almost two years. The location is always very well maintained, clean, bright and welcoming. My mom participates in daily exercise class along with multiple weekly activities. The care she receives is very good, everyone truly cares about her well-being. Since the pandemic and not being able to have in person visits, I have received weekly update calls and have skyped with her multiple times a week. They have even created a safe way to eat dinner together while maintaining social distancing. They have gone above and beyond to keep families connected during this unprecedented time. Thank you to everyone that keeps my mom happy, healthy and safe!

Wow personally don’t see the one star ratings left on here especially for a large nursing home like Rebecca...my mother suffered a stroke two years back and staff that I interacted with couldn’t have been nicer. Even with Covid the staff calls via Skype several times weekly masked up and goes thru testing to try to protect the residents. I’ve been in nursing homes where diapers are put in garbage cans while in the hall...none of that here...I personally work in healthcare and commend the work the nursing staff does!!...Residents I’ve seen are clean and have different clothes on each day...keep up the good work staff!!!
