Rockaway does it very well! The slices are large thin NY style cuts cooked to perfection. The dough is crispy and flavorful plus the cheeses are delicious. Very comparable to the pies you’d get in Brooklyn or the Bronx.
The White Pizza was surprisingly my favorite with the creamy ricotta. Only 2 places do it right in the area...Slice of New York in Manor, Pa and Rockaway. Both are fantastic.
If you've never been to NYC and are wondering what pizza tastes like in the Big City, look no further. Rockaway is dynamite. I'm from NY and consider myself a lover of pizza. This place would be one of my favorite places in NY too which is saying a lot. So good! Thin crust, excellent sauce, perfect amount of cheese, cooked directly on the pizza stone (which is a rarity in PA for some reason) and just really fantastic. The bottom of the slice is cooked just perfectly with the right amount of saltiness too. Im really impressed by their consistency. I dare anyone from NY to walk into Rockaway, try a slice, and admit how good it is. Have I mentioned how delicious the pizza is? All joking aside, you need to get a slice asap. Josh, the owner, really knows what he's doing and is the only guy I've met who has brought quality pizza to Pittsburgh. Cheers!
Had to wait quite a while, but oh, man, was it worth it. The guys are chopping up fresh garlic and cutting up fresh basil to order, no wonder it takes long. Awesome thin crust NY style, that reminds me of visiting my uncle in Brooklyn as a kid. One of few places that still used the wood pizza peel for the dough, no screens. Crispy pie! 5/5!
My favorite pizza place in Pittsburgh.
That Greek Pizza and Garlic Knots are like a dream.
