LOVE Dr. Lucena and the technician Lauren. Both so informative, professional, friendly and right on with their diagnosis. Recommend to anyone who loves their pets. Dr. Lucena and Lauren will treat your animals like their animals. LOVE that they take the time to explain everything to you. They do not rush you like some vets do.

There was a point that my husband and I were bringing our cat, Molly, to the vet approximately every 2 to 4 weeks. We didn't start off at Willow Creek though. After being either under-treated by an old school vet in the city who works out of a tiny, dirty rowhome or trying to be convinced that she needed thousands of dollars in tests, procedures and surgery, as well as placing her on a prescription diet at a well known, veterinary hospital in Wyomissing.
Finally, a friend referred us to Willow Creek, more specifically, Dr. Zaruski. From the moment we walked in, I immediately felt a sense of relief. It had nothing to do with the appearance of the clinic, it's not a fancy place at all. I just felt like this was where we were supposed to be. Everyone from the receptionist to the techs were kind and caring.
The vet tech who took her vital signs and assist Dr. Zaruski was kind and gentle. Dr. Zaruski was also extremely affectionate and gentle during the exam, calling Molly "Peanut"- which is funny because she weighs about 17lbs. She listened to us as we told her about her previous symptoms and treatment. My husband and I left there feeling like we FINALLY had found a great vet.
They have never tried to talk us into doing unnecessary tests or buying products when I had to frequently bring Molly back in there for recurring symptoms. There were a couple of times that we called and wanted Dr. Z to just look at Molly because we thought a dressing was "not quite right" or she was walking funny as if she was in pain. We were able to get in the same night, usually she would see us after her last appointment of the night and then re-dress a dressing that Molly had managed to get to, and not even charge us for the visit!
Eventually, we had reached a point where we had been repeatedly treating Molly for the same symptoms over the course of several months. Dr. Zaruski was very honest with us telling us that she did not know why Molly continued to developed open areas on her face, between her toes, her face and tail. She said she could continue to treat her symptoms, but we really needed to find out what was causing them, but her office was not really equipped to do so. She said, "I don't want to keep taking your money and not know what's causing these problems." That is when she referred us to a specialist (veterinary dermatologist). I started to cry when she was talking about not knowing what was wrong with Molly, thinking that Molly could possibly have a terminal illness. She gave us three different pamphlets to different specialists to choose from. When we went to leave, she she said, "hold on, I don't want you to go before I give you a hug" and she came from around the the other side of the exam table and gave me a big hug and told me not to worry. I've never been hugged by my own physician, let alone a vet. That's what I mean when I say that she cares about her patients and their owners.
That was when we had finally reached the point where Molly had already been on a prescription diet for 5 months, had surgery to remove VERY infected dew claw & toe and had been on countless antibiotics, topicals and steroids. We went to a veterinary dermatologist where they did a biopsy & several tests - cost us close to $900. It was not a good experience, but we got answers.
Turns out, Molly has an autoimmune disorder and is Dr. Zaruski's first patient with this diagnosis. I appreciate her honesty about not knowing what was wrong with her. We got our confirmed diagnosis and the medication schedule from the veterinary dermatologist and Dr. Zaruski takes care of her from there.
I know that this is a really long review and I even edited it to make it shorter, but I just want people to know how wonderful this place has been to me and my girl. And more specifically, Dr. Zaruski is one of those vets that genuinely cares about the animals she takes care of, as well as the pet parents. I reccomend Willow Creek Veterinary Center to anyone who is looking for high quality care for your pet.
