Piano Lessons with David Ancker

I took lessons with David many years ago when I lived in New Hope. He is without a doubt the finest piano teacher I’ve ever taken lessons with. We focused on the Three B’s, Schubert and Schumann, Chopin, and Grieg. David emphasized the importance of developing technique through continual regular practice including specific technical exercises. Development of expression came after I learned to play a piece. In addition to studying the piano, David introduced me to a wide variety of advanced techniques as well as an appreciation of music outside of the piano. He’s a truly gifted teacher.

Very few teachers or coaches truly reach their potential of earning the title of Master Lecturer, however, Mr. Ancker effortlessly exceeds this title with his ability to scholarly merge countless subjects that challenges each student to realize what it means to be a great professional artist. Simply put, anyone who studies under his guidance must come to terms that they might never find a teacher of his caliber again - a true Master Teacher and maybe the last one living in Bucks County.

David Ancker is a wonderful teacher. I cannot say enough about the time I spent studying with him. I have had many teachers throughout my life, both privately and in school, but David is the one teacher that really stands out. He brings to each lesson his insight and intelligence, a lifetime of experiences as a performer himself, and a remarkable gift for helping you to discover your full potential. He has a genuine desire for each of his students to succeed. His lessons are an experience. I would not be the musician I am now without his guidance.

Listening to David speak about music is a joy. His love for the piano, expressed with such deeply felt passion is inspiring.
