I am a police officer and I take my profession very seriously by constantly trying to better myself in all aspects that would be applicable in the modern day challenges and encounters in today's world. I pride myself on learning and training with people that I would consider to have invaluable and elite expertise in their field ranging from tenured professors, high-ranking officers from both police and military, and Shihan Michael Fletcher for defensive tactics within dcjs standards and other mixed martial arts. I have currently trained with him for over 3 years attempting to learn his skillset and this Japanese mma system founded by the prestigious Soke kuniba. I can say that his instruction will be beneficial to anyone who is committed to learning. However, there needs to be a realistic expectation from the individual seeking to commit. This is not a belt factory that rewards with a purchased black belt, giving a false sense of security. This is intense, realistic training that not only exhausts your body but also your mind. An example of this would be kata that teaches principle but then having a REAL Sensei that understands application of kata from grabs, all strikes, and ground that can effectively teach you how and when to be aware of its application; and this is just kata. Every day that passes, I gain more understanding for this system and how the principles start aligning with the ground, throws, strikes, and kata. Ask yourself what you want. If you truly want to prepare yourself for all principle based scenarios involving hand to hand combat without rules and weapons, then I would highly recommend Traditional Mixed Martial Arts Dojo. If you want the belt after only a few years of training, then I would recommend going somewhere else. I've had to use my training in real scenarios. Honestly, I can tell you that during these experiences, I was nervous; however, I felt relaxed, and I was analyzing the offender at all times, anticipating how I would counter their particular actions. I continue to train to be better prepared. I trust Shihan Fletcher to prepare me.

I was fortunate enough to find this dojo when I was looking for training in defensive tactics for law enforcement. Sensei Michael Fletcher is the ONLY civilian who is certified by DCJS to teach law enforcement officers. His method of instructing not only teaches you the "how" to do, but the "why" you do it. I am so pleased with the results of training with Traditional Mixed Martial Arts. Highly recommended.

Shihan Fletcher is a great traditional martial artist. He has first hand traditional Japanese martial atrs training from the best of the best, Soke Shogo Kuniba. Great dojo with a wonderful Sensei. My son trained previously in martial arts before starting at Traditional Mixed Martial arts. Sensei Fletcher had challanged him to learn more and expand his knowledge. He has improved greatly in confidence, fitness and ability since training here.
