Another awesome shelter this had water close and lots of spots but not many for multiple hammocks but that's ok we just used 1 side of the shelter, nice walk to it even though it's up hill mostly from caledonia state park but after the first hill is nice trail there are also plenty of spots right outside the shelter just nobo on the trail before the steps .
When hiking the Appalachian Trail, this is got to be the best Shelter by far. Complete with a bear box and a bench swing. in front of the shelter is a natural spring flowing with delicious crisp cold clear water.
Great short hike out of Calendonia.
One of the nicest shelters in PA! Absolutely gorgeous. Caretaker has done a wonderful job with this one. And water source is directly in front of the shelters. This is not a place to party; hikers go here to rest.
I've hiked here many times with my family. Camped overnight once, but not in the shelter, as it was full. It's a really nice stop for lunch if your day hiking the area. Shelter is well maintained and you may run in to Jim, the Innkeeper! ????
