Short 1 mile walk. Parking is in the middle of nowhere approaching from the east. Had a couple of vehicles show up who didn't walk the pike. I didn't have any issues.
Pretty dang kewl! Nice easy walk. Eerie in a sense, nothing scary but fun and enjoyable all the way through. Best for bikes all the way thru, and easy hike to and thru 1 tunnel. Entrance to the abandoned Pike on either west or east side. Definitely one of the kewlest places of retired history that you won't really see anywhere else, let alone meet many that have also been to this secret gem.
Great place nice and quiet. Echos are amazing. Smells like an old celler and was about 60 degrees in tunnel on a 90 degree day
Its beautiful here especially when there are no people in sight. Just listing to the birds chirp and the wind blow through the tunnel really can make you feel like you're in a whole other world
This abandoned section of the Pennsylvania Turnpike can be described as somewhat surreal. It is 8.5 miles from this end to the other. There are two tunnels, the closest one is 1.3 miles long. Its easiest to go through the tunnels using a flashlight, but very fun and creepy to walk through with no light at all.... at one point in the middle the light at the end of the tunnel can barely be seen. I would highly recommend going for a run here because it is a rarely unique place.
