Going to Goldie’s makes me so happy. It’s the perfect blend of warm and airy ambiance, creative yet simple decor, sophisticated and yet real food. I have come here a lot with my baby, and the people working there have always given us a warm welcome. That meant a lot to me when we were just venturing out of the house!
Breads and pastries are generally excellent and have a great dark crust (a sign of an artisan bakery that knows what it’s doing). Interesting variety of pastries with Eastern European origins. And the breakfasts are innovative and very good—for when I’m feeling adventurous, I love their birds’ nest bowls with strong veggie flavors and over-easy eggs, and when I want something more comforting, a cup of coffee with an excellent toast or brioche, served with really quality jam and butter, is the perfect simple pleasure. Real food, done superbly.
The only trouble is, they’ve cut back their hours recently, so half the time when I have the urge to go there to read over some toast, I can’t. I really hope that will change when the weather improves.
A crime that I haven't visited sooner. Delicious food and cozy environment.
The subtle emphasis on environmentally friendly details is nice.
First off, they don't ruin the bread by putting it in plastic! Everything looked beautiful and tasty, but I had the biscuits and gravy, which, btw, was an insane portion. The bottom had a huge, dense biscuit- plain. I wondered if a slight sweetness with honey, or maple in the dough could have added something to the otherwise savory dish. The gravy was fine, but the bits of sausage were a little understated....it could have used more spice, such as sage, coriander, pepper flake, etc. Sauteed greens added interest with a slightly bitter element. I chose the egg style replete with the warning about eating "undercooked!" (I've always loved "dippy eggs, " from the time I was little, and Mom used to gag cooking them for me!....so she claims...) That gooey, buttery, runny mess I love better than a cat loves cream! My husband had liverwurst and horseradish rye toast with pickled beet egg and onions, and he cleaned it up. I didn't taste it, but it was beautiful, and rustic looking simplicity! I want to definitely return!
Amazing place with an exceptional selection of delicious dishes. Moreover, the staff were very friendly, kind and relaxed - couldn't have asked for more! I was even impressed by the bathrooms. Top-notch, can't wait to come back!
When you walk in the beautiful modern and warm atmosphere greets you, along with their staff. The unique and delicious touches to dishes such as Biscuits & Gravy with collard greens is just one of the special dishes you will get to choose from. This has become my favorite breakfast place and each time I go, I always feel like I have found a gem here in Lancaster City!
