(September 11, 2010, 7:14 am)Stauffer Park is located here as well as Stauffer Mansion which serves as the home base for Manheim Township Parks and Recreation. The park itself is great. Despite being only about 8 acres, it maintains quality softball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, and a playground. Overlook Park gets the most attention, but this is a hidden gem. There are also picnic tables and a short bike/walking path through the park and the trees provide a lot of shade. Beware the mosquitoes in the summer however and use your deep woods OFF. Manheim does a great job with all it's parks.
The only issue I have is the maintenance of it's botanical garden and plantings. The garden itself is in need of a major redo since there are very few unique plants and many volunteer trees have taken root. The mulch around the trees in the rest of the park is hit or miss since the squirrels root it up all the time and it is allowed to wash away for much of the year. I don't know why they don't just plant some durable ground covers under all the trees and be done with it.
Over all I would recommend using this park.
