Very well maintained shelter, room for 6 or more on the floor plus room for a few hammocks. Raised floor helps keep the critters out. In front there is a log bench and a metal fire ring. No privy. Several nice tent sites nearby as well. Just north of the shelter, maybe 500-700 feet and right on the trail is a piped spring with a small metal basin. Just to the south, maybe 1/4 mile is a side trail called North View that takes you past a small vista.
This is a wonderful public service for AT thru hikers.
Always like passing this shelter never stayed there though because i enjoy the climb on the other side of the river to much to stop here! but its a well kept shelter.
Cozy night out of the rain
This place has it all. Valet parking, mini bar in each room, very nice water source. Ask the concierge about the local nightlife.
