The Manayunk Chambers Guest House is just a fantastic gem in the heart of lovely Manayunk. The owner, Mark, is a professional baker and chef who prepares fresh baked pastries each morning -- scones and muffins and such -- and serves them alongside delicious crepes with fruit and meats and cheese and coffee. A perfect way to start the day.
The house itself is fantastic. It is decorated like a 19th C. salon with art and beautiful furniture and a piano. We had a gas fireplace in our room and a beautiful bathroom with an amazing shower (and a bidet!). Wine, beer, coffee, tea, and snacks were available around the clock.
Most important, Mark is just a kind and wonderful host who pays attention to every detail and is responsive to even the smallest query. He loves what he does and love chatting with guests. He's a great host.
I can't recommend this place highly enough. We will definitely be returning.
Charming B&B! Delicious breakfast! Lovely room! Would definitely recommend & hope to return soon!
The innkeeper at MCGH is a busy guy and texted ahead to see what time we’d be arriving. Mark drives all over Eastern Pennsylvania sourcing the very finest, freshest, and healthiest ingredients for the sumptuous breakfasts he prepares and the rolls, scones, croissants and other delicacies (home made granola) he bakes in the inn’s kitchen. Also made available to guests are snacks, coffee, wine, and water. We were fortunate to stay in a room on the second floor which easily accommodated a very comfortable king sized bed, a small sofa, and a chair. This room had its own bathroom, albeit a rather compact one reminiscent of many in European hotels. All facilities have been upgraded to contemporary standards (Restoration Hardware?); an old-fashioned skeleton key secures your room.
It was raining when we arrived, and we pulled into the small driveway next to the house. The cheery proprietor came out and helped to unload our belongings and bring them up the steep flight of stairs. Parking can be challenging in this quaint Philadelphia neighborhood, but Mark provided us with a code to use for free parking in a 24-hr public lot a couple of blocks down the hill. In spite of this, when we ultimately went to park there at 11 pm on a Saturday night, the only spaces available were for cars with handicapped plates or tags (we had one). If you don’t have a car, or choose not to drive during your stay, the Manayunk commuter rail station is just down the block to take you into Center City. Close by, too, are numerous excellent restaurants and cute shops selling everything from handmade clothing to fresh-cut flowers.
We can recommend Manayunk Chambers to anyone who appreciates personal attention, kindness, and old-fashioned hospitality. If you’re looking for a pool, a workout room, and a full-service bar in the lobby, this won’t meet your needs.
Found this charming inn through the great reviews on trip advisor. This wonderful and historic B and B was all that and more. Gracious host Mark greeted us and gave us history of the house, lovely parlor room- shared his recommendations for food and shops on Main Street up the block walk, and cooked us up a most amazing delicious breakfast in the morning. Our room was just lovely. Comfortable king size bed. We loved Manayunk and our stay here at the inn. Will be back! Thank you Mark for a great stay and all your kind hospitality! Highly recommend!
Mark is an incredible host with an absolutely beautiful space. My wife and I stayed here with our wedding party, and Mark was so kind and accommodating. Very close to all the great spots in Manayunk, too! Highly recommended.
