(July 18, 2018, 10:39 pm)This museum is just a short walk away from the Sports Complex and is housed in FDR Park, an expansive city park outfitted with a lake and all. The building is beautiful inside and out.
The museum is divided into several themed rooms that each showcase an achievement of Swedish Americans. I especially liked the Golden Map room and the New Sweden gallery. There are also rooms dedicated to noteworthy Swedes that influenced aspects of American life.
The museum is less about Sweden and more about Swedes in America. It is clean, the architecture is beautiful, and it’s surprisingly modern! Check it out of you have a few hours to spare! It’s small in a way, but it still took me over two and a half hours. But then again, I wasn’t in a rush.
(June 14, 2018, 12:40 pm)A true gem in south Philadelphia with artifacts ranging from the Vikings to Scandinavian modern design. Located in a beautiful park with probably the easiest parking of any museum in Philadelphia.

Founded in 1926, the American Swedish Historical Museum in South Philadelphia is the oldest Swedish museum in the United States. 1926 marked the 150th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, and Americans from all backgrounds were celebrating their heritage and their contributions to the United States of America.
