Gato Taco & Tequila

Good menu with lots of taco and salad choices. I expected chips and salsa to be included as is the case with most other similar restaurants in the area. I've never been disappointed in the food quality or service. Taco Tuesday's are a good value and their drink specials are worth a try. Support downtown Irwin and visit them.

The nachos here are more than enough to share (and still take home some leftovers). They are probably some of the best nachos I've ever had, so definitely 5 stars for those.

On Tuesday night, tacos are $2 each (you have to get 3, they all have to be the same, and there is a limited selection of meats to choose from), so it's a good way to try something new or a new combination. The combo I chose was pretty good (chicken, pineapple salsa, and avocado cream), but wouldn't be my choice for next time. There are enough combinations to keep coming back.

I highly recommend the margaritas, especially the lavender violet and the spicy blood orange. They are fabulous in flavor and fairly priced.

They currently charge some form of convenience fee of $2 per check, but we were told they are working on updating the pricing on their menu to remove that extra unadvertised surprise fee on the check...

The restaurant is chilly in February. Bring a sweater. And wear socks.

It was not extremely busy when we were there, so the noise level was surprising. While we couldn't hear other conversations, we did have to talk louder to hear one another. Also not something that would keep me from returning, but just something worth noting.

Overall, we love supporting small, locally owned businesses, and we certainly intend to return... especially for some more of those nachos.
