You should ask about a diet trial. Some dogs get ear infections or itchy ears due to an underlying food allergy. It can take up to 12 weeks, but I would find a vet that is willing to repeat ear cytology (check for bacteria, yeast, parasites) and then talk to you about a diet trial.

Take the dog to an emergency clinic instead of waiting so he isn't suffering all night. While olive oil might be some sort of human "remedy," it's not gonna help with a dog.
