Great trails for walking- lots of options! I really enjoyed the information stops. The signs had a phone number you could call and get info and stories about the location you were at- very nice. A good way to spend an afternoon and get in some exercise and history!
Our cousins reunion was awesome and park rangers were wonderful. We all praise them for assiting us on our visit and looking up grave locations for us. We sorry lantern tour had to be cancel but stormy weather camin to play. Thanks again!
We got there kinda late in the day, but we plan on going back. Great visitor center experience with exhibits and one particular guide/docent was very knowledgeable. Tip: read up on the history of the battle before you go so that the historical reading comes to life and you better understand the scope and significance of the battles.
Decided to take a quick tour through on our way to the airport. I liked the audio tour option. Very convenient and easy to navigate. My teenage daughter wasn't as enthused as I but I thought it was important to see what she reads about in the history books in school, at least until it's rewritten. Seeing all the white stones in the cemetery really brings home how many lives were lost. I did get out of the car at one point and hiked to where all the big rocks were that they had to navigate through in one attack. I cant imagine fumbling through the dark
This was a really interesting piece of history that I previously knew nothing about. There are different stops that you can drive to and dial a number to listen in about each location, however, I HIGHLY recommend you look into signing up for the docent led tour (it was an hour and a half long from 2-3:30, but be sure to check the website). Our docent, Shannon, was AMAZING and really made the history come to life. This was the highlight of our trip to Nashville!
