Top Hog BBQ

Top Hog has some of the BEST catfish in middle Tennessee. We ordered the catfish platter and the hamburger. The catfish filets are cooked to perfection! For the sides, we chose the white beans with onions and chow chow (which were really good) and the collard greens (the greens are really spicy, even for someone who likes spicy) so be prepared if you choose them! We also had an order of onion rings, which have a nice flavor with a thick semi crunchy batter. You can’t go wrong choosing to eat here! A couple of things to note, the prices are very reasonable (especially for the portions you get) they seem to be super busy at lunch and dinner time (could wait 30-40 min for table) and they only accept cash or check, no credit cards! Having said that, it’s worth the wait as well as the cash!

Overall very good bbq. I don’t rate it 5 as other places locally are a bit better. Don’t visit at lunchtime Saturday. Extremely busy.

It’s a nice little place, and it’s clean and cozy but fills up quick around lunch and dinner. It’s my first time having genuine southern barbecue, and I will come back again and again. I had the bbq plate, with coleslaw, onion rings, and hoecakes. Everything was delicious. A good portion for $10.95 and the sweet tea was the best I’ve ever had. The coleslaw was fresh and not too sweet, the sweet tea was perfect. The bbq was tender, and the sauce was delicious. The hoecakes were fresh and not too greasy. Right after we sat down at 3:30, a LINE formed at the door so get in when you can. 10/10 will become a regular customer.

We love this restaurant and would call it a southern meat n three. Especially love sitting on the porch with the cool breezes blowing in. The food is amazing! Best iced tea served in a mason jar. Servers are prompt to give refills . .Tea is brewed to perfection, and amber in color. They usually serve it with a tea spoon so you can stir that ice and lemon around! White beans/ corn cakes, they are fried to perfection and lacie, never thick like a pancake and not sweet, which I love! Turnip greens have some cooked onions and are a tad spiced but not too much…deviled eggs and potato salad is incredible. All sides are great. If you are a meat lover I hear the burgers are winners! People like the barbecue too. Affordable prices, but cash only so bring it! I see so many people seeing the sign on the door and leaving and coming back:) People never stop piling in from open to close and at times it’s hard to get a table , but if you’ve got the time, it’s well worth it I love to see these places do well, especially in middle Tennessee where the town was built on meat and three restaurants!
Servers work hard here so do tip well!

Absolutely delicious fish and pulled pork! The Ho Cakes and onion rings are really good, the other side items were okay, nothing to write home about. Drinks come in a huge mason jar. Very friendly staff. I would recommend this restaurant if your looking for great fish and bbq!
