“This is clearly in the top 10 places to visit in San Antonio. It's flat out beautiful and perfect for photos. The other part is it's free! I was shock there's no entry fee. They do make it up with sales at the little shop but don't mind spending a few bucks after the experience. What's mind blowing is people have lived here their entire lives and never knew about this amazing place.”

“This zoo is pretty neat. Lory’s Lansing was my favorite part and I recommend you try it. The burger was good but the nachos cheese was cold. The Bald Eagle was also a neat thing to see. Also the people were pretty friendly and the environment was nice. Overall it was pretty neat and I would like to go again someday.”

“Toilets, toilet paper, urinals, sinks, and soap; what more do you really need? In the midst of the beautiful park, I recommend a pitstop here to perform a not-so-beautiful but all-too-necessary part of being a human.”

“It's a cute little shop with a decent amount of inexpensive gifts for when your 4 year old is freaking out demanding something. You can pick them up a little $5 wind-up train a pacify them for a while. The workers are polite and try to get through the lines quickly.”

“Although there was a long line, they were mostly efficient with checking my cat in for spay surgery. Pickup up time was by 5pm, but I didn't receive a call until nearly 5pm. I have not had any problems with my cat since surgery two weeks ago. She is doing well. I would recommend but only to those who can exhibit some patience.”

“I've been teaching fly fishing here since 2012 and love the combination of tall shady trees and wide open spaces to teach my students but get some protection from the heat of the sun. The San Antonio River flows through here and you can do some fishing here. There is roomy for parties, a little bit of football or volleyball and you have BBQ pits and picnic benches around the park. A nice addition for the public that keeps the concept of open access available to everyone.”

“We had a really good time at the San Antonio zoo. It was busy on Sunday with so many people there. The lines were long and it was crowded. The animals look great and in good condition for the most part. The zoo itself is nice and organized. The food and drink can be really expensive, as expected. I recommend this zoo and we'll go back again. Fun time for families!”

“My child has attended Wood Horse for ten months as their first daycare center, starting when they were 18 months. I am still thrilled with Cassandra and Emmett's professional skills and engagement in building a stimulating yet kind and comforting daily routine, and especially their experience and skills other handling conflicts and occasions when several children need attention at the same time. I have seen them handle shoving and toy stealing immediately and successfully (few or no tears, clear messaging to offending child that the behavior was not okay because it violated another child's rights, clear communication to offending child that they are still loved) as they outline in the written guidance plan. When I pick up my child, they are happy to see me but basically calm. The children are playing, no one is tired or cranky, the atmosphere is happy. When I drop my child off, there is an adult lap to plop down in for them to settle in, and either adult-guided play with other children to join or an offer of any book of their choice to be read to them (because Cassandra and Emmett know my child's favorite activity is reading). Generally, all six kids get to plop down in an adult lap to fill up on closeness first thing in the morning, which is wonderful. Activities are well-organized. When turns have to be taken (to wash hands before meals, to paint at the easel, etc), how the turns will be taken is clear and each child's fair turn is protected while comfort and alternate activities offered children struggling with waiting or to avoid "waiters" getting too focused on wanting their turn immediately. In addition, Cassandra and Emmett generously offer their entertainment skills to the children - singing, guitar playing, nose flute playing, mouth harp playing, marionettes, drawing with sidewalk chalk, and probably more I haven't happened to walk in on or hear about. They cook for them from scratch every day. A little community has sprung up around Wood Horse, and Cassandra and Emmett are invited to the children's birthday parties and sometimes parents', too. Last time, Cassandra and Emmett arrived after all the children had, and Cassandra was greeted by a sequence of hugging children when she sat down on the floor. The children often alternate between us parents and Cassandra and/or Emmett as they play at the parties. Wood Horse is a very special place to leave your child in warm and competent hands!”
