In my opinion the best Tai Chi studio in North Dallas. Master Eric Hung offers a traditional training experience that is tailored to meet your individual needs based on age, experience, and physical ability. Tai Chi along with several other internal martial arts are offered at this location. A focus on the health benefits derived from their program is what brought me to this particular studio. This is an activity that can be engaged in to promote a productive life as we age. There are students in class over 80 years of age. The class setting is very informal. There isn't a lot of additional expenses such as uniforms (you purchase a shirt), no color belt tests as you progress, etc. The atmosphere is very laid back. Each class begins with a low impact warm up, meditation, then Tai Chi training. It's perfect for our aging population. There is also children's classes offered several nights a week. For those who seek more more than Tai Chi the studio offers other internal Kung Fu arts such as Hsing-I and Ba Gua. The owner Eric Hung began his training at the age of 10. He was trained by the our current Grandmaster Wang Fu Lai in Nan Tou, Tsao Tun, on the Island of Taiwan. He has traveled world wide assisting Grandmaster Wang Fu Lai teaching students the art. I have found him to be very pleasant and honest. So in summary, I can't say enough about the positive experience I have found Cheng Ming USA to be. My classmates and I all feel the same that it is a gift that has been given to us. Low impact exercise, health benefits, fellowship, etc. are the byproducts of this training. I encourage all who read this to at least try it out. I'm sure you'll find it fulfills your exercise needs from childhood to old age.
I have been learning tai chi for about 6 months. In that time, I have received many health benefits. At 68 years old, flexibility becomes a real “issue”. My teachers at the Cheng Ming tai chi school have been enormously helpful to me. My flexibility is increasing rapidly. I also have increased strength and peace of mind. I will be a student for life!
While I have only been going for a short time (5 Weeks), I can't say enough GREAT things about Cheng Ming.
I find it interesting and a true testament that every single person I have met here, whether it be the very nice, yet impressive Mr Eric, his AMAZING Mother Annie, Students and others helping, every single person has been of EXTREMELY high character and great to interact with. I actually wake up on mornings I know I will be going to Cheng Ming with a happy heart.
Now, on to the Schooling itself.
Every aspect of what I have done has been beneficial in one way or another.
I am using muscles I haven't used in 20 years, and some I have never used at all, and I have been working out and playing sports for 45 years.
I am learning self discipline. I feel GREAT during classes and find myself going through the motions in my and trying to work on things all day long.
I am learning the physical healing aspects of movements, as well as some of the background.
I am getting a great physical workout, without feeling like I am getting a workout.
I am learning how to meditate, and how this mediation helps different parts of my body as well as constantly helping my mind.
I am feeling an incredible grace in the art, and it is often coupled with how these incredibly graceful movements might help me in a bad situation.
Every training session has been at my pace. The thought is that it is much better to learn things thoroughly than to just rush through. No pressure, just learn and enjoy what you are learning. Everybody learns slightly differently, and that is okay.
I have several physical ailments, primarily really bad knees,, and somehow, they don't seem to bother me while practicing Tai Chi.
After 6 weeks, all I can say is, I wish I had found Cheng Ming 10 years earlier.
Thank you to Mr Eric, Sifu Annie (I hope Sifu is proper in this case), En Yi (Spelling?) and Kai. I hope you don't get tired of seeing me in your classes.
If you have ever thought about trying Tai Chi, I urge you to come in and watch a class, meet Mr Eric and Miss Annie and see where it goes from there. I am certainly glad I did.
I love this Martial Art school. Helps me mentally and physically. Eric is a great instructor for me and my daughter.
This internal martial arts system offers both physical and mental benefits. Tai Chi is relaxing and calming. It helps with flexibility, coordination, and balance. Hsing I helps students develop confidence and mental fortitude. Studying here improves your memory and recall, in addition to learning self defense. This is a school where you can be a student for life and learn something new during each class.
