This gym is so awesome. The walls are tall and the routes are set well. The big draw though is their community. Summit has really done a lot to build a community of climbers and it really shows. Everyone is friendly from employees to regulars. I always feel at home.
Update: Still my home gym. You can see how welcoming they are here by how many climbers pack into the building. Even when things are busy, the community rallies. Sharing the wall, looking out for one another. Great Place!!!
Update:
So after climbing here (and at the location in Dallas) for almost a year, I have some more insights.
The gym was built in the last few years, and because of that, it feels quite fancy. There is tons of rope climbing, some of which is quite tall (max 58ft I think). I’ve never done lead, but the top rope is quite good. I wish there were more than like 8 or 10 auto-belays though.
There’s a good amount of bouldering, which is what I mostly do. The bouldering pads are very thick, so I feel quite safe. Personally though, I like the style of the bouldering at the Dallas location slightly better.
Both the bouldering and rope climbing is reset fairly often, so there’s always something new to work on.
Like many other gyms, there’s a great community among people there. There are community events and competitions (I haven’t been to many). People are always super nice, and I often have small conversations with others.
The gym and the bathrooms are always very clean, which is great. The employees are awesome! I’ve never met an employee I didn’t like.
It often gets pretty busy in the evenings and on weekends, but never so busy that I was annoyed or felt unsafe.
As for value, I pay about $60/month for a membership, which isn’t too bad as climbing gyms go. That gets me into every Summit location as much as I want, one guest pass per month, some free classes (I’ve never taken any), and discounts on gear and other classes. If you’re new, there are regularly discounts on memberships and day passes, so look for those.
Overall it’s a great gym to climb at. I’m really happy I found Summit!
Older review:
I’m an almost complete climbing beginner, and I still had lots of fun! There are climbing routes for just about every skill level. The employees are all super friendly. Just an overall great atmosphere.
Everyone in the gym had a mask on, so that made me feel safe. In addition, I was there during one of the busiest times, and I still thought it was possible to physically distance.
One thing to know is that the first time you go, there will be a 20 to 30 minute orientation. Plus, there’s a waver you’ll need to sign (if you didn’t already do it online), so leave yourself some time.
Beautiful gym with fantastic lead climbing, top rope, and bouldering. Welcoming staff and members. Best climbing gym in North Texas!
Awesome place and the staff were super friendly and helpful, me and my friends really enjoyed with the ladies night discount on Friday too! Thanks for a great experience!
Love this place. Great community of climbers and staff. The venue has many options and classes.
