Side note: it was hot and humid that evening so the stylist had me leave the salon with tighter curls. She instructed me to do a light comb through with my fingers when I got to my photo session. “I absolutely LOVE this place. I’ve stayed here 3 times. Twice for our annuals girl’s river trip and once when my husband and I got away. Darrell and his mom Margy are the kindest people. Darrell meets you when you arrive and they are so fun to sit and talk with. The rooms and beds are extremely cozy. This last trip we had 7 women so 5 of us stayed in Deer Haven. It’s the back cottage with a full kitchen. It was nice to sit on the back patio and I LOVED the VHS movies. The location is perfect. Close to the river, River Road Ice House and Gruene. The breakfast is fantastic and this is definitely are go to place in New Braunfels.”

“I love this place, I can’t get enough! My whole life I’ve wanted to wakeboard, but I thought you needed an expensive boat. Turns out, you can get a whole day of wakeboarding for less than a trip to the amusement park. If you have your own gear, an all day wakeboard pass costs less than a bar tab at a fancy cocktail bar! Speaking of bars, Ironsides Craft Bar is attached. It has a laid back vibe, good music, and even better prices. It’s a great place to grab a drink after you ride, or sip while you watch your loved one on the water. They have axe throwing as well at Loki’s Axe Haus. It’s fun to let some tension out by letting the axes fly. Those are fun, but I usually come for wakeboarding. Since day one, the dock operators have been nothing but cool and helpful. They gave me tips to get off the dock, and ride on the features. The riders are the same, we love to hype each other up and help new people off the dock and around the corners. You shouldn’t feel embarrassed coming here. We were all making big splashes off of the dock at one point, so there’s no judgement! Another thing I like about TSR is they’re open all year round. You can’t most other on your Christmas break, but at TSR the holiday season is wetsuit season. If you’re still reading, you could have been halfway here by now. Come out!”

“Excellent spot to bring your own tubes and enjoy the river with your family. Recommend for: families and individuals on day trip who want to enjoy one spot or float. Pros: inexpensive, excellent spot on the river, parking right on the river, van rides up river for float trips. We visited this Jerry’s at the end of June 2023. We chose not float the river because it was low only 52 CFM. Tubing when it’s this low requires a lot of rock hoping which we weren’t up for. This spot was perfect. We hung out in the deep water above the bridge, floated through the chute and floated down river a little through some rapids. It was beautiful, we saw a large soft shell turtle and a broad banded water snake a long with great views of old cypress trees and the limestone cliffs. It cost us $20 to park for the day and Jerry’s offers all your basic needs in the store, drinks, shoes and any other basics you need.”

“Casual atmosphere, hole-in-the-wall place with good food, good prices, and great service. Pork chop breakfast plate is one of our favorites! The barbacoa is really good too. We enjoy their coffee in the morning and their chips and salsa is brought straight to the table when you get there. Their soda is brought to you in a can. And the tortillas are made fresh which you can see from the further dining room.”
