I have been living here for about 3 months now.
I'm loving every minute of it. It's such a nice community.
The only comment I do have is that when the heaters get put on it can get a little loud in the apartment, but it's not a constant thing, so I can definitely work with that. keep up the great work Brookchester!
Can’t speak for the quality of these apartments yet since I haven’t moved. But my experience communicating with leasing agent Lisa has been wonderful. She has been available to answer all my questions promptly throughout the process of securing an apartment from out of state. I’m very thankful and I hope living here turns out to be a great decision.

So far I’m really enjoy living here. Maintenance has been super responsive whenever I’ve needed something addressed. One time I left my keys inside my apartment after hours and had a person from maintenance opening my apartment door in less than 20 minutes. Thank you guys for the work you do!
We lived at Brookchester for 8 years, here are my thoughts:
PROS
New Milford is a quiet town centrally located in Bergen County and easily accessible to NYC. If you have little ones, the local schools are close and reputable. NMDPW clears streets quickly when it snows. Shops are close, a bus line runs through the complex, and trains are a 20-minute walk or a four-minute ride.
The property is kept clean and orderly in the nicer months. The buildings are older, but look presentable. Landscaping is performed weekly and garbage pickup is frequent.
The apartments are affordable and heat and hot water are included in the price. Units are heated well in the winter and the window ACs are fairly effective. Our second-floor unit was “renovated” and served us well. Walls are thick enough to block out most noise from adjoining units.
Nearly every interaction with the leasing office was handled efficiently and quickly. The front office staff are generally friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful.
The maintenance staff are also friendly, courteous, and competent and - until recently - made repairs very quickly.
CONS
Parking is almost impossible to find after 10pm and garages are sometimes unavailable for months at a stretch. New Milford has a no overnight parking rule from 2a-6a, so if you’re not parked on a Brookchester street, in a Brookchester lot, or in a garage, you’ll be ticketed. Some one-bedroom residents have 3+ cars and some lot spots are occupied for months on end. I worked a job that let out late, so parking was a daily issue for me.
Brookchester Maintenance folks are reliable and knowledgeable, but any repair work from an outside contractor is performed inadequately. Most interior repairs are accomplished by just painting over things.
Units are cramped, dated, and vary in quality. Our unit was quiet and sturdy, but we did have a few roaches through the years and squirrels in the attic space on occasion. We dealt with these issues on our own.
It’s become increasingly hard to get a hold of the maintenance staff, and the person on the phone is useless. Our last basic repair took 11 months to be completed. An email to the property manager about this went unanswered.
Snow removal is no longer handled promptly. Eight years ago, it was cleared immediately, but in the past few years, our section rarely got shoveled within 24 hours of a snowfall, which I find unacceptable. Use caution.
There has been an explosion in new dog owners since the pandemic. Few of them leash or curb their dogs and most routinely use green spaces as a dog park, so beware.
Laundry facilities are costly, clunky, and sparse. I would recommend a nearby wash-and-fold delivery service, it’s only a couple dollars difference, really.
Very responsive and customer focused. Took the time out to explain every detail and did it with grace. Highly recommend!
