Best thai food I've had in the States.
I used to live in Bangkok, and I can say the Yam Talay (Sea food Salad), the green curry chicken, the Curry Fried Fish, everything I've had here is perfect.
I wish I was still hungry so I could order more, I'll be back soon
Visited downtown Garland a couple weekends ago, and while roaming around, we decided to grab some takeout from The Blue Rat. It is my new favorite Thai place! The crab cream cheese puffs were so good, and you could actually see and taste the crab in them! It was the perfect ratio of filling to fried breading. For an entree, I went with the pad Thai so I could compare it to other restaurants. It had so much flavor, and the dish wasn’t dry, but actually a bit saucy. Very different from other pad Thai dishes I’ve tried. Service was fast, and the young man who took our order was friendly. If you’re in the area, I’d highly recommend stopping here for a bite!
The service is excellent and friendly. Take out only because they have limited space. I foresee them finding a bigger place in the near future.
hey have a great selection of appetizers and entrees. I had the Lifelong Noodles with seafood (spice level 2... maybe level 1 next time for me) and the chicken satay (the peanut sauce is what makes this great). The noodle dish had shrimp, squid, scallops (I loooooove scallops), and two mussels. You can get chicken, beef, pork, or vegetables.
My brother had the sticky rice with mango for dessert. He let me try a bite (and I gave him a satay). I'll have to get that next time.
The Blue Rat Thai is located on Main Street near the Square in Downtown Garland, two doors down from Dos Banderas. Go today, people!
First time here to try this fairly new place. Very pleased with the friendly service and great recommendations by Johnny who happens to be the chefs son. I loved the Tom Yum Soup with Shrimp and the Drunken Noodle. The Thai Coffee with Boba is a winner, too. Also ordered their Basil Fried Rice (delicious!) to take home which they put in a good quality plastic container with lid. It matters. The place is small but adequately furnished and clean. I highly recommend.
Found this new place close to home, just wanting quick take out. Boy was I surprised! We've ordered from here at least once a week since then, and never been disappointed! The curries, fried rice, and noidle dishes have all be authentic and delicious. I personally recommend the Long Life noodles as my favorite, and the fried rice is on point. Don't forget some egg rolls and you can't go wrong
