“Confession time: I've had debilitating health anxiety my entire life. We're talking... as a five year old, I knew terms like "flesh-eating bacteria" and was regularly convinced that I had every affliction you could imagine. After I watched my grandmother die of cancer, I had a rough couple of years with my health anxiety, and it's been very hard to find a doctor who was understanding without being patronizing, who was reassuring while still being informative. Dr. Shepherd, in my opinion, is everything a doctor should be; she's the kind of doctor who LISTENS to you, even when what you have to say won't fit into the obligatory five minutes that MOST doctors are willing to spend with you. She's knowledgeable and articulate, but most importantly? She's kind. She's welcoming. "Going to the doctor" has always been a terrifying experience for me, but not with her. Her staff has changed a few times since I've been her patient, but they've always been polite and helpful. Most recently, Luisa was the medical assistant, and I loved chatting with her. I've never had any issues with this office; my only complaint is that they're a bit of a drive for me, but even so, I'm more than willing to make that drive in order to remain a patient here. I highly recommend this office and this doctor.”

“Had 2 knee surgeries and the best part was Rehab Management. It was very difficult for me to get through both procedures. RM was fantastic in helping me get back the strength I needed. A huge part of rehab is the mental determination. Every day I was at RM, I got motivated by the staff that helped there. It got to the point that it was the best part of my day. “I am college student that desired to increase in direct patient care hours and coming here was such a blessing! Dr. Maya is one of the sweetest people I know that wants to see you grow. Other providers I have volunteered with had put me off to the side and I felt as if I was such a burden to them. Dr. Maya allowed me to feel like I was part of the team, she wanted to see me get outside my comfort zone to be a better person. I definitely have grown to be a better person and I know that her impact will be transparent as I eventually become a medical professional. You have to go with the mindset of getting out of your comfort zone, you need to accept criticism, you need to be determined. You will not see growth if want to be complacent.
