Kim was an absolute treasure to work with as we were navigating through some challenging times with our teenager. She was a very competent coach and provided valuable insight and resources to us. If you are walking through uncertain times with your child or just wanting to show up as the best parent you can be, then I would highly recommend you give Kim a call.
Kim has done a great job helping me change my parenting so that it’s more effective with my teens while also growing a better relationship with them. I strongly encourage every parent of teens to take her course!
I participated in Kim’s online Becoming Me While Raising You class and found it to be profoundly practical and impactful. I’m a single mother, raising two teens. The teenage years are filled with eye opening challenges and blessed experiences. I wanted to be able to work on effectively communicating with my teens. Kim’s class allowed me to work through areas I was struggling with and brought to light fresh perspective and enriching ways I could be available to my kids, while not neglecting myself.
I participated in Kim's class - "Becoming Me While Raising You" this past winter. I recommend it for anyone raising teens. It isn't your typical parenting class where an expert imparts instructions or knowledge on students. Instead, it requires participants to do the work - making sense of their own childhoods and past experiences as a means of understanding and improving upon their parenting methods. Kim's role is more of a coach (and a good one) than a parenting guru or expert with the next best strategy to parenting. The class truly did help me reconsider and hopefully improve my approach to developing relationships with my teen and young adult sons.
Originally, I started working with Kim to help me with my relationship with my 19 year old son. I have 3 other children too so I knew any advice or tips she had in helping me communicate better with him would bleed over into better relationships with my daughters. I didn't know how to switch from parenting kids, with all the running around and managing lives, to parenting adults! How do I listen better? How do I influence without pressure? How do I accept them as the adults they are versus who I want them to be? Who am I as a woman, now that I'm not the mother who is totally engaged in every minute detail of their lives?
Not only did she get this "I don't do meditation" mom to actively embrace and appreciate meditation (it really does help you calm your mind, and help you focus which leads to more calm, non-reactive communication and decision making!), she is helping me discover me! What patterns I experienced as a child and how I'm (for good or bad) bringing those experiences into my own mothering? What is holding me back from living the life I want - as a mother, a wife and a (hopefully) sexy/smart almost-50 year old woman? Who do I want to be and how do I get there?!
Kim has taught me so much already and we aren't even through. Her approach is personalized and focused. She's different than a therapist in that she shares her own experiences with me, which of course increases the trust and communication which drives all the other positive outcomes. I do the "homework" she assigns me because I want to take full advantage of our time together each week. Having an expert in parenting has been immeasurably critical during this time in my life. And I look forward to what else Kim unlocks within me! Thank you Kim!
