LP Martial Arts is honestly the best place you can train at. The community here is the most welcoming and most supportive. Whether you plan on competing or simply staying fit, LPMA is the place to be. My Jiu-Jitsu has improved substantially since joining. Highly recommend anyone in the area to come try out a class…it’ll be the best decision you can make. :)
Solid instruction, high level training, and goofy atmosphere. What's not to love?
If you live in north Texas and don’t give LP a shot you’re missing out! Chelsah’ and Steve are great genuine people, exceptional martial artists, and truly care about their students. My entire family of 7 has been training here since June of 2021. After looking at different schools we made this our home and it has been our best decision of the year. My 12 year old, my wife, and myself enjoy competition and we consider ourselves very fortunate to be trained by coach Chelsah’. She spends the time working with us, teaching us and preparing us for tournaments. Coach Chelsah’ is at a level very few people could ever hope to accomplish, she’s an elite athlete, but she matches that in teaching skill which is a rarity. If you’re wanting to learn jiu jitsu, you’re crazy to pass up LPMA!
Steve Paek for the win! Best instructor I've ever had for sure, and I've had quite a few over the years.
He is able to teach at every level from beginner to advanced. Many instructors are able to show basic technique, but Steve always has extra strategic nuggets of info that make all the difference. Steve also pays attention to his students while they are training and drops by to make corrections during drills/training. This makes a huge difference because a student could be off balance, using incorrect posture the entire class and have not been aware, this personal instructor attention makes all the difference. I have seen many instructors that just demo a technique, but pay no attention to the actual students delivery and/or retention, so Steve is is an extremely high quality instructor that cares about his work in my opinion.
As well, anywhere Steve goes he always has good vibes, and builds positive community feeling around him. He's also quite funny and makes good jokes. He attracts high quality students that are a joy to train with, and also you can get in some serious work at the same time. The vibe at a gym is pretty important, you don't want to go to a gym full of slackers where you feel uninspired but you also don't want to go to a gym where you feel out of your league and you can't learn, can't relax, etc. I followed him to this gym from another gym when he started it because I had such good experiences and such good results training under Steve.
Took my first class last evening. I am completely ignorant to martial arts but I felt welcomed and comfortable. The gym is exceedingly clean and they followed CDC guidelines which i appreciate.
The atmosphere created by Steve is really great.
He’s energetic and enthusiastic. The class was a ton of fun and a great workout. I signed up for membership and am looking forward to learning more. I would recommend this place highly and without reservation!
