We love Hawaiian plate lunch from Shaka. My husband and I always get the same things: Kalbee Short Ribs and Fried Fish & BBQ Chicken combo. They come out piping hot and fresh all the time. The meats are flavorful and moist all the time and I also like their macaroni salad. We would come more often if we lived closer but maybe it’s a good thing we don’t.. Highly recommend if you’re around The colony/Frisco area near 121 HWY.
-update October 2023-
We just returned from a 2 weeks trip to 3 Hawaiian Islands and it’s crazy how every time we ate a plate lunch at one of the popular joints in HI, we kept comparing them to Shaka’s and except for one place that serves Garlic Chicken (it’s amazinggg but Shaka doesnt have this on the menu), we actually preferred Shaka’s short ribs, mac salad and loco moco!!! Now that says a LOT. Shaka’s owners are I believe to be from Hawaii and they are serving some truly amazing food here for Dallas folks. We stopped by last night and of course our meal was delicious without any flaws. Keep supporting your local asian businesses!
Luv luv luv this place! By far the best Hawaiian food I’ve ever tried. Food is always fresh and flavorful, they are also so generous with portions! If you’re someone who doesn’t eat much, this is easily two meals or very shareable! It’s also so nice that they let you change out the sides to get more of something else (ex: no veggies, extra rice). I’ve been going here since they’ve opened and I’m really happy they seem to be getting steady business. It’s my biggest fear this place will close, it deserves all the luv and it’s definitely worthy a try if you’re in the area!
Please note that although this place has a drive-thru, ITS NOT FAST FOOD! It takes them about 15-20m to cook your food and this place seems family owned so it’s a small staff! Be patient with them, you can also order ahead if you don’t want to wait too long. But trust, it’s definitely worth the wait ◡̈

- Chicken Katsu w/ No veggies, extra Mac
- Chicken musubi
(Came with 2 teriyaki sauces and 1 Katsu Sauce)
Food has lots of flavor and value. I really enjoy their plate lunches
Shaka was Great! Definitely one of the best dining experiences for Hawaiian food in DFW. They have a great selection and everything was well seasoned and tender. I had the Loco Moco and it was delicious. And my wife got the Shaka favorite Seafood mix. Everything was excellent. We will be back soon!
The service was a bit slow, but worth the wait. I ordered the aloha plate with grilled chicken breast & teriyaki sauce and my boyfriend ordered the chicken combo plate (BBQ chicken & chicken katsu). The chicken was tender and well-seasoned, and the rice was cooked perfectly. I do wish that the chicken combo plate came with a better selection of veggies, not just cabbage. Overall, we both agreed the food was delicious! Today was our first visit and we plan to come back!
