I just decided to pick up BJJ about 4 months ago and I was searching all around Dallas for gyms and going for visits. There were a few that I got good vibes from but I ultimately settled on this one because the people seemed like good people and the trainers were legit and actually Brazilian. I know there's plenty of legit professors who aren't Brazilian like John Danaher and many others so I'm not disqualifying people off that, I'm just saying you appreciate that level of authenticity.
So after nearly 4 months of coming to this gym pretty consistently (3 to 4 times per week) I can honestly say this is a great gym and I'm glad I pulled the trigger on them. For 1 everyone in the gym has been genuine. I can tell when people are faking and I haven't met anyone yet who didn't seem sincere in their willingness to help me get better and just their general camaraderie. The professors (Pedro and Rodrigo) are thorough and at least 1 is/was ranked nationally in his division. Also, with this membership you can train for FREE in north Dallas at their affiliate gym where Rafael "Formiga" Barbosa is the trainer. All I have to say is Google him and that should tell you all you need to know (countless accolades). The owner Randy Clayton is a good guy and he's very understanding and willing to work with you. He allowed me to take SEVERAL classes for free until I ultimately decided and didn't rush me at all which let's me know he wasn't chasing my money and was genuine, which again I appreciated. They do competitions in this gym as well which was another positive for me as I want to eventually start competing in tournaments.
Neither the owner nor coaches asked me to write this review but I thought I would share this in case you are reading this and in the same position I was 4 months ago struggling to decide on what BJJ gym you wanna go to splitting hairs based off limited information. If I could do it again I would've joined this gym sooner. All I can say is try the gym for a week or so and I know your experience will be as pleasant as mine. God bless!
I've been going there for a little over a month now, and I've learned a lot a have significantly improved compared to before. The teaching is amazing and I've gotten a lot of support. Would definitely recommend for people of any skill level!
This is not one of those get promoted because you show up places. My 17 yo son is truly learning by hands on participation. Most of the class is spent working in pairs and rolling.
Only been going for a couple months but staff is very welcoming and enthusiastic about what they do. Feel like part of the family there!
We had our kid's Nerf war birthday party here in January 2020 and it was FANTASTIC! They provided extra guns and all the darts, music, barriers, and even disco lights...the kids had a blast! The best part was the birthday kid gets to cut their cake with a Ninja sword...SO COOL! You get 2 activities for the 2 hours, so they did inflatables as well, which the kids loved too.
