  The service was excellent. They were very friendly and helpful. The portion size was more than enough. I had the pork chops and rice which was good. The only thing I didn't care for was the side of yams. Also there were not a lot of choices. I do recommend trying this place.

  Comfort. It's in the food, the building, the location, and the faces. Is it fast paced? Yes. Does it affect how much care goes into serving me? Hell no. It feels like stepping into a home where you were invited for dinner and the food is the poster child for southern cooking done right. No smoke and mirrors or fancy plating, just good food made by good hands.

  We tried this place on a brief visit to Houston and it did not disappoint. Joyce provides the warmest service and the food is unreal. I had the oxtail with a side of yams and mac and cheese, and I'll be dreaming about that meal until I can get back to Houston for more.

  Great for a Sunday when you don’t feel like cooking. Ordered the oxtail dinner with cabbage and yams. I was delighted that rice comes with the plate, unlike other places. The oxtails were meaty and plentiful. The service was superb! Definitely home cooking in a cozy place! I got to go, and it was worth the drive! The only point of contention was the gravy was a little pale for my liking but still tasted great.
