  Can’t say enough about this place. James is a fantastic instructor and paces classes excellently. Everyone is super welcoming and willing to walk you through patiently if you need it. If your new to jui jitsu or a seasoned veteran I highly recommend this place.

  James Quan is a knowledgeable professor that can provide valuable and technical insight to practitioners at any level in Jiu Jitsu. His patience, detail oriented instruction displays how much he cares about the art. He prides himself on each individuals experience in the academy. Maven is an excellent family oriented environment for students not only looking to compete, but learn the fundamentals of self defense. I’d highly recommend this academy!

  Maven BJJ is great!! I have been studying BJJ at Maven since October 2018, and I love it. Professor James Quan is an excellent instructor; every moves and positions are taught with detail and precision. The students are very friendly and the upper belts go out of their way to help you perfect your game. Don’t be intimidated by BJJ; if you try it, you will love it!

  James is a really good teacher with key insights about the underlying structure and principals of Ju Jitzu. He's a great guy to go to it you are a white belt but he's also a competitor. My game got a lot better right away because I was able to think more clearly about what was happening while I was rolling as a result of the things James taught at a seminar. And, he's an encouraging and inspiring person as well. Could not recommend him highly enough!

  First time in this sport, and I fell in love right away. Really awesome group of ppl willing to help the new. I always feel like they all care about helping me and any other newbie get the lessons down. James is a very good teacher and always makes you feel very welcome and excited that you are in class!
