Audience Murphy is one of my favorite actors, who made western films and combat films. He was the MOST decorated war hero in WWII of anybody. He also wrote. 17 number one hit songs with many known singers singing them, including Charlie Pride and Cole Porter. The museum is really done up nicely. With exhibits of many of his war scenes. And letters to and from his family describing the horrible conditions of the war front, AND his family's contributions back in the states. There are exhibits of cotton and the cotton gin also . For the price, it is really worth your time. There is a 1906 Cadillac on display also.

This is a gem of a museum. It's located on a nice property off the I-30 frontage road in Greenville TX. It's not a huge museum but the space is utilized very well so there is a lot in there.
It contains a comprehensive Greenville history that includes everyone from the indigenous people to important citizens from all cultural groups.
There is a comprehensive display representing the cotton industry.
There are dioramas illustrating "Mainstreet" and war. These are very well done.
There is a section dedicated to Audie, WWII, military history in general and local veterans. You can watch a short film about Audie.
Outside are some buildings, two of which are originals and one replica. When staffed, you can go inside.
At the entrance is a beautiful sculpture of Audie and a memorial to Veterans.
There is a small giftshop with reasonable priced items and a nice selection of books, mostly history. You can purchase Audi's autobiography, To He'll and Back which I'm enjoying. (no Kindle version so buy it here instead of Amazon). I bought a sweet doll made from a quilt for just $10.
Entry is $6 but separate pricing for Veterans (not sure what). Plenty of parking and wheelchair accessible. Plenty of places to sit and contemplate both inside and out.
SHOUT OUT FOR HELP: There are two miniatures in the cotton exhibit that need work from someone with knowledge of miniature gears and pulleys. If you can help, please contact the museum.
This is a great place to take school age children though the diorama with shooting may not be appropriate for all.
The large map in the military exhibit is particularly educational as it provides a summation of the major WWII battles and a visual of the allegiances of the countries.

My son and I were practically the only visitors at the time, and we didn't feel rushed or crowded. As for the museum itself, it was surprisingly larger than I expected, and was very interesting. The Hall of Heroes experience was both sobering and informative, but even the other sections (cotton/Texas history) were interesting in their own right.

Overall, I'm glad we made the drive up from Houston to see it.

We stopped by on a whim and ended up staying until closing. A very fascinating museum for history lovers. The war memorabilia was so interesting and I learned a lot about Audie Murphy that I didn’t know. My 10 and 12 year old went in begrudgingly and left a little awestruck. Ticket prices are insanely cheap.
