Great! Talk to Rob. He’ll saw it up for you. Lots of experience there. He cut up our 9 1/2 foot live oak log. Out came beautiful slabs. He has the equipment.
The owner was super friendly and very helpful in picking out and installing a mantle for our first home. He was excited about his work and took pride in what was I'm sure a small project for him. We rummaged through pieces with him in the yard and picked out a piece that was exactly what we were looking for. He came and installed the piece himself just before Christmas time, talked to us about the history of the wood and what the different features indicated, and it truly was a joy to share that experience with him!
Great selection and this guy Rob knows his stuff.
Today was a visit to TGW to procure raw woods for a project. I am a novice woodworker. Some folks think I have a little talent. It has been six years since I last visited this mill and talked to the owner, Robert. When I drove up, Robert came out of the yard and greeted me. After re-introductions, I explained my project. And hour later, Robert had worked with me on selecting some pecan in the rough dimensions needed to work my project. He chalked out the rough cuts - while chatting through the project he shared a couple vendors info for epoxy filler material and shared a vendor that can cut my current epoxy expense to 25%. Where in the world else can you find this kind of customer engagement - not to mention a mind boggling selection of Texas native woods. I also got to meet Dennis and David who help produce the fabulous pieces from all that wood. Go visit and enjoy the experience.
I stopped here just to check out the prices on mesquite lumber. I not only found a new good source for mesquite and many other hardwoods, but had a very enjoyable tour of the lumber yard with Robert . So much more than lumber here! Beautiful finished work ( mantles and tables), too. And as to the mesquite, I think the lumber will be of much higher quality and more highly figured than what I've seen in San Antonio.
