First time with a fishing guide even though I've been fishing for over 50 years.. it was great and will probably make this a yearly event.

We celebrated Easter weekend fishing with the family and staying at Captain Carl's Cabin. Captain Justin was very friendly and knowledgeable. We caught one fish after another all night long until our hands hurt from reeling and taking hooks out of specs mouths. The accommodations were great for our family, our kids loved the bunk beds! We will certainly see Captain Justin again!

Very awesome fishing trip. Excellent customer service. Very professional. Great catch of speckled trout and literally over a hundred of specs just barely under the limit. We were bringing them in two at a time all night under the lights. So much fun, can't wait to go back.

If you've never experienced a sunrise over the Laguna Madre, smelled the faint aroma of watermelon from a fresh Baffin Bay trout slick or had your forearms cramp from catching so many Redfish at the Landcut; then you will have trouble relating to our experience. For those of you who have enjoyed the Laguna, Baffin and The Cut, with all of their majestic blessings; you will have a place in your heart for this post. My wife and I live on North Padre Island and started renting from Captain Carl's Fishing Adventures in 2013, before we were married. It was the first fishing trip to Laguna #2, August 1st, 2013, that set the standard for our return trips to the cabins. We pulled up at 1:00pm, after a gracious 5 minute boat ride from our host. They dropped us off and we began our adventure. My wife was new to saltwater fishing, so I got her started with live shrimp under a popping cork. Immediately, she yelled in excitement, her cork was under and she had a fish. Undersized trout! Great!! This will keep her busy while I go throw the cast net for mullet. Another shrimp, another yell, another undersized trout...Back to getting the cast net ready. Another shrimp.......no yell........I turn around to see my wife, not saying a word, red in the face, with her pole bent over at the handle... Not an undersized trout!!! It was a 26.5 inch Redfish!.. Maybe I won't be leaving so soon.... For the next seven hours we caught 20+ Redfish and 20+ Black Drum ranging from 23 to 30 inches. We kept enough to feed us for awhile and released the rest. The next morning we continue to catch and release Reds and Drum until we were out of bait and completely exhausted. Needless to say, it is an experience that has yet to be duplicated. For my wife, it set the expectations for our trips ever since. It was an unbelievable adventure that will stay with us forever. We went back, twice in 2014. We went down to the Baffin Cabin in December, where we caught limits of both Black Drum and Trout. In January 2015, we stayed at Laguna #2 again and it was also another great experience. My wife caught 5 Black Drum over 40"s. We've stayed two more times in 2015, once at #1 and once at #2. The trip to #1 I took a buddy, my step daughter and his three kids. The kids caught trout under the lights all night. They still talk about how much fun it was to stay on the water. My wife and I just got back from #2 this past weekend, where we caught 10 keeper Trout and released hundreds more. We enjoy fishing from the cabin but all the cabin's are located in some of the most recognized waters in North America for Trout, Redfish, Black Drum and Flounder. It's pretty convenient when you wake up and you're already at your fishing destination. Capt. Justin and Crystal are as nice as they come and just as knowledgeable of what these waters offer. We will continue to come back, enjoy the cabins and have many new fishing adventures!!
