I have seen a lot of therapists in my life. Sheena is hands-down the best therapist I've ever seen. She is so easy to open up to, gives you actually useful coping skills, and shows genuine interest and empathy in your life. I highly, highly recommend her. I cannot sing her praises enough.
I have been seeing Rebecca Houser and Lisa Brennan at the Southlake location for almost a year now. I have many mental health diagnoses, including severe depression, severe anxiety and PTSD. I have been sick my entire life and have tried every medication on the market. I have even had the radical Electroconvulsive Therapy to help with my depression. After the ECT, my mother decided I still needed therapy. I see Lisa on Mondays for regular therapy and Rebecca on Tuesdays for my PTSD. Lisa uses cognitive behavioral therapy and she specializes in other areas as well. I see Rebecca for PTSD where she uses a technique that has been approved for years called EMDR (eye movement and desensitization and repossessing) to treat PTSD and addiction. Honestly, even with the Electroconvulsive Therapy and the right medication combinations, I feel that I get the MOST help from my therapy team at Blank Slate Therapy. I have made tremendous progress by going twice a week for less than a year. I do not know if severe depression is completely curable, but it IS manageable. Therapy with the right team is a MUST! I highly recommend the therapists at Blank Slate Therapy. Without their sincere empathy and patience, their helping me to identify my destructive thinking and behaviors, their teaching me coping skills, breathing techniques, mindfulness, and other positive behaviors, I think I would have regressed back into my depression and harmful behaviors. I also think Rebecca Houser is amazing with the EMDR. For the first time in my life, I am able to face my trauma without anxiety. It takes a lot of work to defeat mental illness, but it can be done. The hardest part is acknowledging you are sick and reaching out for help. I encourage you to reach out to Blank Slate Therapy. They are wanting and waiting to help you. They saved my life. Please call them. The first steps are always the most difficult, but they are waiting to comfort you and to help you defeat your demons.
