The environment Mrs. Kurvilla has created is more than just a school, it is a second home! It has such a cozy feel and she is incredibly loving, patient, and understanding with all the children. She understands the core standards and other tests that the children will encounter in the future and finds creative ways to teach each child to their own unique learning style. My son was 3 (preschool) when they were working on sight words, mastery of letters/sounds (my son knew a handful at the beginning of the year and knew over half with all letters/sounds/writing), math (counting, adding, recognition), and many other hands on activities that tied into practical learning. They do many arts and crafts and work on skills that help children focus on the task in front of them. She prepares the children both emotionally and socially as well. Discipline is not harsh and a child is not labeled as “bad.” Children are taught to understand why they are doing what they are doing and redirected towards positive behavior. Another aspect that is important to me is time outside! If its a nice day they might spend a little extra time outside. They connect nature and garden with the children. My son came home so happy and relaxed. If this school went into elementary I would be sending my children there.

As a former educator with almost two decades of experience in the private and public settings and in the capacity of a teacher and administrator, I give my highest recommendations to anyone who is looking to put their precious children in a preschool program. Today, I went to the open house with the hope to see if the owner’s philosophies are sound and her curriculum really understands the foundational needs of a child. I think her curriculum ( which she developed) hits the nail on the head. Ring the owner of another educational company, I offer my highest recommendations to I can Academy forany family looking for an excellent program for their pre-kindergarten age kids!
