After an early diagnosis (at age 55) of osteoporosis, my doctor told me I had to completely change my walking/running/biking routine if I wanted to be moving in my seventies and eighties. My husband, age 63, was also diagnosed with osteoporosis (worse than mine) and his doctor told him the same thing. I did loads of research to find an instructor trained in the original Joseph Pilates method. Enter Lorn! Her attention to proper positioning of our bodies, along with the explanation of why each exercise is beneficial is fantastic. She misses nothing! In the three months we have been working with her we can already see positive changes in our strength and flexibility. I will admit I went to our first class only because my husband wouldn't go without me (I insisted he needed it and I did not) and I walked out the door saying, "when can we come back!?"
Pilates with Lorn has been transformative for me. I have hypermobility and have had a hard time finding exercise that did not made my joints feel worse. Yoga was actually the worst for my hypermobile joints. Lorn’s expertise and the resistance based format of the Pilates technique have helped me increase strength and flexibility without the same kind of discomfort that yoga created in the past. She is a well trained instructor (and dancer) who knows what she’s doing and firmly encourages proper form with every move to ensure optimal results! I could not recommend working with her more.
Lorn is a body guru! She is unique in her lifetime of movement experience--starting with her professional dance background, which pushed her body to extremes, and her experience as a dance teacher and choreographer where she guided others to push their own physical limits safely. Add to that her many years of teaching Pilates to different bodies, ages, and levels of fitness, and she is simply masterful is understanding how to help people move better, no matter their fitness goals. I am a long-time Pilates practitioner and a Pilates teacher. Lorn has helped me develop my own strength, navigate health issues and understand Pilates more deeply. On top of all that—her home studio is a lovely place to be! I highly recommend Lorn!!!
Was doing Pilates for a while before beginning training with Lorn, but it really has been my time with her that has taken my understanding of it to the next level. As someone who has been suffering from a large herniated disc for years, the strength I’ve developed through working with Lorn and the reduction in my pain levels and functionality has been priceless. I can not recommend her enough to anyone seeking to transform their bodies or who is recovering from an injury.
