“I bought some aftermarket struts. I had them disassemble some complete stock struts and springs, then assemble the springs on the aftermarket struts. I made it more complicated using 4th Gen 4Runner springs for my first Gen tundra aftermarket struts. Brought them what I had and two hours later they had them put together beautifully. “This is actually my second review (reviewed them years ago). This location is 20 minutes from my house, so I go to a few local places for simple work. But for anything expensive, I only go here. First, his prices are usually one of the lowest (usually by about 10% or so--sometimes a LOT less). On one job for air conditioning he was about 80% less--since he properly diagnosed it was just a solenoid (not the entire compressor, etc. like was pitched from another place). He also doesn't throw in $30-50 in mysterious shop fees. He will also shop around for the best options (OEM, re-built, new but not OEM), which often save--and he'll tell you which he recommends. Second, he is thorough and calls in anything else he finds and makes recommendations that can save you a lot of money. And, I always TRUST his advice. He is not the fastest (since he is usually packed), but he usually keeps you appraised of the workload and can schedule you in to reduce downtime.”

I actually called them from the parking lot of the Toyota dealership, because I had just received a list of major maintenance items that I "needed" totaling more than $1,500. I spoke with Greg, and he suggested I come by to take a look. I ended up dropping my car off a couple days later, and within a few hours, they had taken care of all the necessary maintenance, ruled out the unnecessary items that Toyota suggested, and even knocked out my state inspection which was due. I took mine in for some carburetor repairs and radiator replacement. I can honestly say Austin Corvette exceeded all my expectations. “The acceptable final results of the engine transplant project performed by the Mercury Charlie's crew was marred by their consistent inability to return phone calls or communicate during the process. Most recently I had a time-critical question for Chris regarding his choice of some engine components. I called early in the week and spoke with owner's daughter Roxie, who assured me Chris would call just as soon as he finished a phone call he was on. 4 days and one additional phone message followup later, I finally got a call at end of day on Friday. By then I had long since given up and just had to make my own decisions without input from Chris. Looking back during the estimated "two week" project which stretched into over 2 months (and final cost some 60% greater than the initially discussed high range), I was reminded that on numerous incidents I NEVER received a return call for messages left either on voice mail or with the receptionist. On the other hand, the finished project was generally completed in a professional and knowledgeable manner. There aren't many shops left that do this kind of work, and I recognize and appreciate that. On the positive side, I'd be remiss if I didn't mention that Chris made a personal end-of-day trip to my house with some replacement ignition parts, several weeks after I took possession of the completed project and he even offered to re-install my spark plugs (I declined..
