Holy Mother of God Orthodox Church

This place is invariably sweet smelling! I was touring places to see in Austin where i might be able to speak and listen to Russian language when i came across Holy Protection and its website on the internet. I was invited to come over and join in on one of the services, which was an enlightening cultural experience as well as a great opportunity to meet people.

We started going to this church recently after my mom's death. Both my husband and I are Orthodox Christians, but we never went to church on regular basis before.
We felt so welcome there, we felt supposed and cared for. Everyone is so helpful and caring, there is trapezas after Sunday service that everyone can go to. Father Moses is available and can always answer questions after Sunday service or even during the week over the phone.

Please, come watch the service and listen to beautiful singing at our church, light a wonderful smelling bees wax candle and share a meal with us whether Orthodox or not. You will feel welcome same as us!

It's a wonderful church, where you can serve God.

At 9:30am, the liturgy starts. At 12pm, the priest blesses the food, and we have a meal with all the people in the church (trapesa).

In the church, there are a lot of icons. You can leave a candle, pray, have a confession, and, of course, a communion (for the communion you have to be prepared with fasting, prayers).

There is a big play room for kids with a changing table, a rocker, and a place for breastfeeding.

You can also buy icons and candles there, schedule baptism, panikhida (memorial service), wedding and other services.

Very helpful, friendly, patient and so kind. Took their time to help me find what i was looking for. Patiently provided me and my kids with information, explained and translated the things we did not understand.
