Finding it hard to get started with making changes in your life? Not sure how to begin? Not sure your ideas are even worth pursuing as a course for your life? Wondering if you’ve lost your marbles and are just experiencing mid-life crisis? These are questions I came with when I sought help from Katerina and True Joy Coaching.
I had a very clear picture of what I wanted to drive my life to, down to very specific details about things like where I even wanted to relocate to, and what my busines storefront would even look like, but I doubted the validity of my dream. (Example Question: can someone really make a living selling yarn balls in Oklahoma? Response: Who says they can’t? And who says they won’t be even more successful doing that than working at their current job?) With True Joy, I was able to accept my dream as valid – even wonderful! …and better define my goals, and become aware of the obstacles and challenges (or challengers!) to those goals. I embraced my dream because of the help and support I got from Katerina. I found so many other people in the field doing EXACTLY what I wanted to do, too, even people I already knew and had worked with in previous jobs that now worked in my dream field. If you say it, out loud, it can become real! It’s almost scary!
It’s hard to extricate personal from professional. There are many people in your personal life right now who, believe it or not, have a vested stake in maintaining the status-quo of your professional life, and keeping you ‘this way’ for now. Katerina was able to help me see that the path to happiness, joy and fulfillment was to realize that undercurrent of needs/demands from others – to observe it from a detached perspective, and then ask myself “but is that good for me?” I appreciated the insight from a complete outsider on a few personal relationships that were not adding positive things to my life.
To get to the level of success I envision, I also have to have a flexible timeline. I prefer immediate gratification, but with Katerina’s help, I have been able to accept that change can take time and that breaking the task into smaller steps with periods of reflection and assimilation is also an important part of getting to the final goal. It’s also important to reward your wins. Maybe you’re an overachiever and used to accomplishing everything all the time – A+ student. Well, if you’re not giving yourself the credit for those wins, for taking risks, for contacting total strangers to get new networks started, you’re missing out on a big piece of self-recognition. Katerina also helped me to understand the value of that aspect as well.
What resonates most with me in working with Katerina is that belief she shares with me that the universe rewards happiness. When you are doing what you are meant to do and finding happiness in that, the universe showers that with positive rewards. All of a sudden the work becomes easy. The universe is pushing you forward and agreeing with you, meeting you at the intersection of where you were meant to be and what you were meant to bring into the world.
