Posting from my phone by my survivor: John, my husband, who with my daughters Lori and Lisa, have followed my final wishes: My burial in our Nation’s most revered and beautiful Cemetery will occur 0900 to 0930 on Friday, 14 December 2018, after my family, Pentagon co-workers and friends assemble in the Administrative building at 0815, and follow my casket to my grave. I grew up in Arlington while my father severed in the Pentagon during WW II, as I did from 1984 to 2002, including on 9/11, and now I will remain here with America’s finest.
I have been trying to get here for years. I was looking for the grave of someone I'm writing about. This is such an amazing place. I could spend a weekend wandering around. Such a heartfelt resting place for our hero's.
I am honored and humbled to have been able to visit this spectacular place. I was in awe to see so many grave stones for men and woman that have given their lives for our country. The eternal flame for John F Kennedy along with his wife and 2 of his children was chilling. Some of the places were hard to find and locate on their map if you decide to venture off with out the guide but it was beautiful nonetheless.
I absolutely loved visiting.
I do have to recognize one individual
I would like to thank Leroy for the history he shared about the cemetery. He is extremely passionate about this country and those who fought/fight to keep it safe. He told us about the unknown union soldiers buried about a 5 minute walk from the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier. The shuttle goes past the area but it's not a stop, the graves are marked with small white/grey stones. I hope one day to make it back to Arlington and spend a few days there.
It's such a large cemetery so full of history, it's not a couple hours stop. When I make it back I will definitely have a plan.
