One of my favorite memorials to visit. There was plenty of open (free) parking when we visited, and it’s just a quick drive over to Arlington cemetery from there. Well worth the stop!
Generally already a beautiful memorial with a great spirit. But visiting at an evening on a Tuesday (during summer) makes it an unforgettable event. The Sunset Parade, starting at 6.30pm, is a stunning goosebump moment.
Wow! What an incredible memorial. This was a breathtaking experience in the cool, crisp, morning air of our nation's capital. With hardly anyone there, I was able to reflect on the U.S. Marine Corps history and tradition this monument represents. Semper Fi and God Bless my fellow Marines, the service members of our military, and the United States of America.
What a tribute to the all American hero. Take a walk from Arlington National Cemetery and the grave markers set the tone for this amazing statue. The heroic touch by these young soldiers so many years ago is a lasting reminder of what the flag stands for. I also love that this memorial can be seen for miles around. It’s a little off the beaten path and after so many years of visiting DC this is my first time, and definitely a favorite.
Finally got the chance to see what i have only seen in books and movies. Words cant express how awe-inspiring this monument is. Shows the American strength and unity. We as citizens need to show our armed forces more respect than we do. Because if it wasn't for them we would not be a free nation.
