The path is basically a mowed strip in a large meadow, full of wildflowers. I went yesterday and it was too hot and buggy. Definitely will return in the fall. The meadow was pretty, as well as the marshy area adjoining.
This is a city park open to the public from sunrise to sunset. The whole family can enjoy a romp around the fields here, including pets. It's a very simple park and a great way to connect to nature. There were plenty of birds and squirrels, and i saw a baby rabbit. I unexpectedly stopped here to check it out on a heavy overcast day with a little drizzle. There's little to no canopy or shade here, so bring sun protection. Currently, there are mowed down grass trails thru heavily grassy open fields with wild flowers. Bring the bug repellent. It's adjacent to marsh land. Tho I only had one pesky horse fly, no mosquitoes. There's a medium-sized parking lot with a port a potty and fitness workout area. There's picnic tables with at least one with a canopy. It will be a challenge to take a wheelchair or stroller thru the uneven fields. It's hard to get good views of the waterway because of the surrounding brush. I also saw poison ivy, so keep the little ones near.
Bells Mills is beautiful and family friendly throughout the year! Wide walking paths around the park with slight inclines are great for those who walk for exercise or just want to escape into nature for a while. Paths can be muddy after rain, and you definitely want to wear insect and/or tick repellent during the warmer months. Our dogs really enjoy the trails as well!
I enjoyed walking here. The path to the right takes you past a small pond and into an open field area with has a path that weaves up and down small hills, and goes along the tree line. The path on the left is also nice and goes along the tree line. There are beautiful views of the sky on both sides and different views of the water as you walk. I went a few weeks ago and it looks like they are preparing for wild flowers. Looking forward to going back in the spring.
There are a few picnic tables and 1 set is covered. They a port-a-potty that gets serviced regularly.
