This school is fine. All the negative reviews are teens that feel they are entitled to have their every need met by every teacher. The same students that feel like the staff was unhelpful are probably the same students who crowd the hallways themselves, won't shut up when told to quiet down, and talk back to staff when they're asked to put their headphones away. The AC is fine as of writing, and both campuses are even said to be chilly by some, and this is easily handled because of the relaxed dress code that allows long sleeves and even personal sweaters. I transferred here just this year and my grades are as good as they've ever been. The teachers, or at least all the teachers I have, are helpful, supportive, nice, and are generally good at holding the attention of the class.
I was enrolled at Thomas Dale for five years (2009 - 2014), and during my time at the school, I've had nothing but fond memories. The work was difficult but the vast majority of my teachers always helped me or at least tried to even if I didn't take the advice. I've made a lot of friends throughout the years and even though some have moved on, we don't have any regrets or resentment towards each other. If it wasn't for my freshman year's core class placement of the school, I would never have met my best friend, Chris. I've never been in trouble with the administration since the rules are easy to follow. And to those who disagree, you're just rebellious. I mean, it's not difficult to avoid wearing tank-tops or short shorts. There are, however, a few unnecessary rules such as electronic devices not being allowed in the hallways but on the most part, they're pretty simple stuff. On another note, the theatre department is amazing. The students and teachers are professional and laid-back. When something needs to get done, it gets done correctly... but have some fun doing it. If you're considering enrolling your child into Thomas Dale, do it. And if your child is shy, have them take theatre for freshman year. It opened me up to a lot of interests I other would never have had. I love this school and I am very glad I went here.
