Mama Possum

Folks if you are a local then you know that Mama Possum is the place to go for the best cheeseburger or hot dog around. If you are passing through town and want a bite to eat well I suggest you program the GPS to Mama Possum's address. Now it's nothing fancy but it's been in business for over 40 years and it's the only place you can just drive up and someone will come out to your car and take your order and within minutes bring you back a hot delicious meal. Local landmark of great food.

Nice little Mom & Pop style restaurant, our waitress was super nice, attentive & personable! Hotdogs were pretty good too.

Rode up here just to try the hot dogs. I'd say they were about average. Buns were on the cool side and the chili and slaw, while good, didn't really standout. Fries were good. Otherwise, the service was excellent and very friendly despite me being an outsider amidst regulars. And the atmosphere was great. I mean, look at the place and the name - how can you go wrong with a place like this when it comes to character. Overall I rated it a 4, but really it is more like a 4.7.

It's nothing to look at, but it's still the best fast food around! Don't go because you want ambiance, go because you want good, inexpensive good and great service!! I no longer live in Danville, but stop in every time I'm in town.

If you’re a fan of old school burger joints then you’ve struck gold. Try the Brunswick Stew and the beef hot dogs 🌭!! Set you clock back to 1963 :-). Car hop service or eat in. Menu is limited but classic. (VA state representative spotted on my recent visit.) Don’t blink or you’ll miss it.
