I’ve been in and out of a lot of psychiatric hospitals lately and this one has helped me out the most. I was there for a month and the staff (nurses, aids, security, rehab) were very kind and caring to me. I like how you can level up to go groups, canteen, the gym, and even the patio. Even though I had my ups and downs there I really appreciate the staff helping me when I was struggling. My team was horrible though. I didn’t like my case manager and the doctor took forever to help me with the symptoms I was having (which I’m still struggling with now). They kept making it out like it was a joke. Anyways, I was discharged without a medication change and I’m already beginning to go back into a funk. The food was decent and dietary is very open to people who are picky or has food allergies. Most of the individuals there were very nice and made me laugh. I had a decent time there compared to other state hospitals (Central, Northern VA) and with most of the private hospitals near my area. This place won’t discharge you until you are ready/stable and I was able to have time to work on myself compared to only having like a 3 day stay at a private hospital. I really appreciate everyone for the help and I would really like to thank Rachael for being an awesome nurse and helping me on my bad days. I would give 5 stars if my team (social work, doctor, etc.) did a better job, didn’t say hurtful things, and wasn’t so rude. Thanks again for the help SVMHI!
Pretty nice place
I came there as a patient at the end of February and thought that place was messing my mind up worse than it was before going into that place! I caught the corona virus and was the last person on corona unit ..last female by march 2021! I have copd and felt this place was trying to kill people! after receiving treatment, I learned it was hard to face reality , but the help of other patients and even staff made me want to change so I dint end up in a place like that again! I was such a toxic person before I went in there! I found while in there that I want to learn more about basketball and writing and reading! I have learned about good coping skills and to always take my meds and how to get out of stressful situations and overcome them! I got out that place in a month and a half! I have a whole new perspective on life!
