Rustic and peaceful. Final testing place of Corporal Frederick Pettit- 100th PA Volunteer Regiment. Kind of out of the way, but well worth a visit...
The cemetery is clean and well maintained. Everything was lovely except that the toilet bowl was very badly stained. The kids were afraid to use it. Other than that, it was beautiful and peaceful. My kids and I really felt the sadness that so many men lost their lives. They were able to explore and fill out the booklets for their Jr. Ranger badges and stamps.
A National Cemetery with a Civil War background. Well kept with walking path; excellent for handicapped. No fees and ample parking.
I visited the cemetery in the summer of 2019, on a road trip with a good buddy, in search of the gravesite of my 2nd great grandfather, Jeremiah Reary, who was killed at Petersburg during fighting on the Eastern Front. I was told by Park Service employees that the marble headstones had just been replaced within the last several years. I found the cemetery to be quite inspirational, beautifully maintained and was glad we made the trek. RIP Jeremiah.
Very beautiful and well maintained cemetery
