Fountainhead Regional Park

If you like mountain biking, this park is a must visit. It has the best single track MTB trails in NOVA, in my opinion.

The blue loop has a bit of everything from fast downhills and jumps to more technical roots/rocks sections. If you’re feeling adventurous you can take on the black, which will about double your mileage and offer even more technical obstacles. Either way, I highly recommend getting out there and hitting the trails at this free to the public regional park.

Nice wooded area where you can go hiking, mountain biking, archery, and launch various types of watercraft on the river. The Bull Run Occoquan trail is popular with trail runners and hikers but remember to bring lots of water. The trail is heavily wooded so you mainly see trees with a couple side trails that allow you to walk down to the Occoquan reservoir. There is a large parking area with a sheltered picnic area next to the woods and a few single picnic tables scattered around. There is restroom but not adjacent to the parking area which seems really strange as it is a few minute walk away. Great mountain biking trails to the south east from the parking lot (across the street) which includes beginner, intermediate, and advanced trails. They close the mountain biking trails after any recent rains but I don't know for how long.

Made it back after it dried out and the green, blue, and black trail loops are fantastic for mountain 🏔 biking 🚴‍♀️. Tough flowy trails with cool technical features on the blue and black loops.

Really enjoyed my hike there. I didn't do the full thing because I only had an hour so I went a short distance and walked back alone. I felt safe enough alone. Lots of inclines and declines but nothing too strenuous and I'm not even in the best shape. I definitely want to get back out there soon.

One of the few actual public places to fish and use watercraft in the Northern Virginia area. Bait store on site, as well as a fishing pier and boat launching area. Free to enter the park. Enjoy the hiking trails, picnic areas and fishing.

I went kayaking with my sons a few weeks ago and it was wonderful. We saw a few Bald Eagles and that was an added bonus. The staff was very kind and helpful. Looking forward to next season for more opportunities to get out on the water.
