Next Step Flooring

i retired a home builder in 2018. I build and sold my first house in 1984. Since than I built 2000 homes. I was building a screen porch in my house in Potomac, Maryland. I made selections with the contractor with whom I have worked for 30 years. I had gone to Great Falls shopping center. As I was waiting for some one, I saw a sign for Next step flooring. I went to see the show room. I met Bruce, owner of Next step flooring. I talked to Bruce about my screen porch. He brought me two sample tiles for floor and knee wall. I was very impressed with the choice and quality of tiles he had selected. I asked him to work out a price. He was one third less than the quote from my contractor. I asked Bruce to do the job. His team just amazing. Best job I have a contractor do in 40 years of building homes. Any one, including the county inspector, who been seen the porch admires the work, both in looks and quality. This is the first review I have ever written for a construction contractor. Since the porch is outside my house I have authorized Bruce to show case his work during day light hours without my permission. It is art.

Bruce is the gold standard of flooring. Period. Tucked away in a small corner of Great Falls Center, we stumbled upon his store when visiting our old friend at a business nearby. We’re so thankful we met Bruce - working and designing our home with him has been such a positive experience and it even inspired us to do more projects with him. Also, his prices are very very fair. He made it possible for us to do all the projects we wanted for our home. Had we gone elsewhere, they might have charged a higher markup making the projects financially unrealistic.

He is honest in his work, meticulous in his measurements, communicates exactly what we need to know, and is generally a solid human being. He went above and beyond in our foyer project - he noticed a design flaw in the materials we purchased and upgraded them to a higher quality wood and didn’t even charge us!

His design acumen, down to earth personality, and the relationships he has with his suppliers and team make him one of the best partners we’ve ever had in home renovation. But I think above everything, it’s the trust. We trust Bruce to keep our home and happiness as his priority and puts the business second. That seems to be the common thing amongst folks who run successful businesses - they know above everything, it’s about the people you serve.

Bruce and his team did a fantastic job--they exceeded my expectations with the quality of their work and were able to complete the project well ahead of schedule, all at a competitive rate. Bruce took the time to understand my flooring needs and offered options for all price points. He puts a lot of heart into his work and it truly shows! I'm thrilled with the hardwood installation on my condo and will definitely call Bruce when it's time to re-tile the bathrooms...

The owner, Bruce Walsh, has an extraordinary selection of all types of flooring, and 16 years in the business with deep connections to suppliers that only come with time. I was able to get a great price, thanks to his experience and network, and my home looks like a different place. It’s wonderful! Not only that, but they did both floors in two days! His crews are top notch, very polite and hard working.

Most importantly, though, is the customer service. He isn’t done just because the invoice has been paid. In our case, one of the toilets had gotten nicked so was leaking. I initially thought it hadn’t been replaced properly, but his chief flooring man saw the very small hole at the base and immediately went out and bought me a new one that’s of a higher quality than was there before. We had one plank that didn’t fit, and one chip and they’re going to be replaced this coming week. He provides a one-year warranty on his work, so there is plenty of time to fix any issues.

I strongly recommend this terrific local shop for your flooring needs. You will be in awe of the selections and even more impressed with the work.

Amazing find in the heart of Great Falls without the Great Falls markup! We recently replaced two fireplace surrounds, a bath, and had a front door refinished by Next Step Flooring. Wow---what a find. We first contracted for the tile/marble work. Bruce Walsh (the owner) was so accommodating, the prices were great, and I can't say enough about the quality of the work. The marble was laid in a herringbone pattern on a wall with weird angles etc---all was accomplished superbly (and they clean-up each day at the end of the day). I next contacted Bruce about someone to refinish a custom mahogany door. He provided me with a fabulous old-world craftsman that did everything by hand. The door looked better after he finished than it did when brand new! Don't be fooled by the small appearing storefront; the store is deep and has numerous samples of all kinds. Bruce Walsh is a wealth of information and has years of experience under his belt in not only tile/flooring but the entire spectrum of the construction trades. What a find; I cannot recommend highly enough!!!
