For what it is it's a very nice and informational museum.
This is one of Fauquier's best kept secrets- but everyone should know about this park! They do actual mining with the kids. They can grab a pan and search for tiny trinkets no charge- or buy a small bag to contribute to the park and your kids will find larger stones. They have the whole setup. Clean and large playground. Paved walking trails, baseball fields and these awesome small buildings with different things to show kids how people used to live way back when. A very well maintained, neat addition to Fauquier.
We hosted my son's birthday here and the place was absolutely perfect! The kids had a blast. There was plenty of room and the history was interesting. However the mining was their most favorite part! Todd was the best. He was patient, available to help our group and was always kind with the kids! It was truly the best party we've had!
An unexpectedly interesting little museum tucked away in a county park. It’s definitely worth the stop for a few minutes to learn about the operation itself, but also how those that worked there lived. The park itself is a great place to picnic or have the kids play on the playground.
A great place to learn about Virginia's history. Clean and we'll maintained. There's a playground, picnic area, ball field, soccer field. The Steward is awesome and more than willing to share his knowledge of the area. Cool place to visit. Bringing my niece and nephew next time. Yes there is a bathroom facility.????
With some small museums to learn about the areas gold mining history and the water sluice, there are some interesting things here for everyone. Learn how they pan for gold and even pan for some yourself!
