My wife and I have enjoyed being a part of the Camp Cardinal community. The employees are friendly and customer focused and they work hard to make it feel like you are part of a community. Only reason I gave location 4 stars was that it is prone to flooding but that is going to happen occasionally when you are so close to the river.
We just came back from our weekend at Camp Cardinal and it was a very kid friendly campground! Now if you want a campground that is rowdy and a party campground this is NOT it. But if you want a lot for kids to do this is the place to go!! We had a full hookup site and when we would flush our toilet we could smell the sewer coming back up and would stink the camper up. And some friends of ours were having issues with their electric. If these two issues get fixed it would be the perfect campground for families with kids! The pool was great, the staff was pretty friendly and had plenty of carnival activities going on all weekend!
We live locally and got a day pass. We were a group of 4— 2 adults and two kids (3 + 5yo). It was lots of fun! We played at both pools (the smaller of which includes a great splash pad area, small slide for little kids and two larger slides for those 42"+), on all the inflatables, and walked around a bit. The entire campground appeared very clean and well tended. The bathhouse was clean. We agreed we will definitely visit again when it's cooler and go out on the river and explore the campground more.
Had a great family camp vacation experience! We swam all day in the pools and our kids enjoyed the water slides the most. It felt very nostalgic with an arcade, fishing docs and cabin on the lake. Our kids had a blast at the park. I mostly enjoyed the convenience of the campground layout, everything walkable distance. The only two things slightly disappointing were that some of the amenities were weekend only and no more snack shack. Otherwise, everyone was kind and accommodating. We even got our family photos taken water front just down from our cabin.
