One of their deputies caught me doing a "Miami roll" at a stop sign in Hadensville after midnight. Nobody around, no harm no foul. The deputy was just checking to see if I was drunk (I was not). Before letting me go with a warning. Honestly good for him. The hadensville-fife road is narrow, windy, but deceptively easy to drive until it's not. A drunk driver could easily kill someone on it.
Glad the deputy was focused on what was important and not minor nonsense.
In another instance I got to see this sheriff's department engage in a more hostile stop involving a search. In this case I was sitting at the macdonalds in Centreville watching two deputies engage with a car they had pulled over on broad street road. It was clear nobody involved knew they were being watched, but after a search of the car the deputies found what was very obvious from my hilltop pearch to be a Crack pipe and assorted drug paraphernalia.
It definitely made my lunch interesting as I watched. I wondered if this exchange might end up internet worthy but again the deputies seemed to be pretty calm and straightforward in talking to the driver of the car. I have no idea what was being said but it was clear something that could have been an intensely hostile interaction was instead being handled very professionally.
It was honestly very heartening to see.
Always top notch professional deputies. Quick to respond to any situation. I have been pulled over twice in Goochland and was always impressed by their courteous manner. It's hard to compliment someone after getting a near reckless driving ticket.. but they are that good.
I can say that with my interactions between the 3 I had encountered everyday for the last 4 days were professional, most definitely patient waiting for me to either get off work or get off the phone 😆 .. though I didn’t like the circumstances of why and what they had to hand to me; I am glad I met them and glad it wasn't on their bad side nor have to meet again in court. If y’all ever get hungry, I’m sure my mom will feed y’all like she does everyone else.
